🪙 Fisherman Searching for Worms Finds 20,000 Medieval Coins
Near Stockholm, a man searching for bait uncovered a copper cauldron with around 20,000 silver coins, rings, and pendants—one of the largest early medieval hoards ever found in Sweden, officials say.
Most coins date to the 12th century and bear the name of King Knut Eriksson, who ruled from 1172 to around 1195. Experts believe the discovery sheds new light on Sweden’s royal coinage and economy of the era.
