☣️ Tulane Denies Infection Claims After Monkey Truck Crash
A truck carrying research monkeys crashed on I‑59 in eastern Mississippi after leaving Tulane University, and some animals escaped.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office first warned that the rhesus monkeys were aggressive and carried hepatitis C, herpes, and COVID‑19, and said all but one escapee were euthanized while the others were being recovered."We are continuing to look for the one monkey that is still on the loose," the sheriff's office said.
Later, Tulane spokesperson Michael Strecker said the primates belonged to another entity and were not infectious, contradicting the initial alert.
