🪼 China Unveils Stealth Jellyfish Drone

Chinese researchers have built a transparent, jellyfish‑like "underwater phantom" for quiet underwater missions.​

Led by Tao Kai at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an, the soft, umbrella‑shaped robot copies real jellyfish to glide with very little noise, making it hard to detect.​ It is meant for underwater sensing, real‑time environmental monitoring, and possible covert reconnaissance.​

Made with a hydrogel electrode and flexible tentacles, it is 120 mm across and weighs 56 g, offering a compact, low‑impact option for silent ocean work.
