🌑 NASA Considers Nuclear Weapons to Stop Asteroid Threat to the Moon.

NASA and an international team of researchers are preparing for the possibility of using nuclear weapons to prevent asteroid 2024 YR4 from striking the Moon in December 2032, according to a comprehensive new study published last month.

The 200-foot-wide space rock currently has a 4.3% chance of lunar impact. While those odds remain relatively low, the potential consequences have prompted serious consideration of nuclear disruption as the most viable intervention strategy.
