🦠 Deadly Brain-Eating Amoeba Found in Australian Tap Water

The lethal microorganism Naegleria fowleri—nicknamed the brain-eating amoeba for its near-100% fatal infection—has been detected in treated drinking water for the Queensland towns of Charleville and Augathella. Health officials have issued an urgent warning to residents.

Once inhaled through the nose, the amoeba can reach the brain, digest nerve and glial cells, release membrane-destroying enzymes, and spark massive inflammation, leading to rapid and usually fatal damage.
