🐰 Robo-Bunnies Set to Trap Pythons

Florida scientists are testing a tech fix for the Everglades’ invasive Burmese pythons. A University of Florida team has built remote-controlled “robo-bunnies”—plush toys with motors, heaters, and solar panels—to mimic the behavior of real marsh rabbits and lure snakes into view. Motion-triggered cameras then alert hunters, making captures quicker and less work than past rabbit-pen tricks.

If the decoys succeed, wildlife crews gain a fresh tool in the long fight to save native species. Researchers may add scent to the toys next.
