🦑 First‑Ever Video of Colossal Squid

According to reports, more than 100 years after the species was first identified, scientists have finally recorded the first video of a living colossal squid in its natural home. They captured a juvenile about 600 meters beneath the surface, near the South Sandwich Islands in the South Atlantic Ocean ⤴️

The footage was taken by the deep‑sea robot ROV SuBastian. Operated remotely from a research ship, the robot weighs about 3,200 kg, and it is roughly the size of a small city car.
