Researchers Create $50 o1 Rival

Based on reports from TechCrunch, researchers at Stanford and the University of Washington have developed s1, an open-source AI reasoning model that rivals OpenAI's o1. It uses less than $50 in cloud computing credits and a novel distillation process involving Google's Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model.
