MIT Sets World Record in Quantum Computing
MIT researchers have set a new world record in quantum computing by creating an extremely accurate superconducting qubit, called fluxonium, with a fidelity of 99.998%. In simpler terms, this means that the qubit—one of the basic building blocks of a quantum computer—worked correctly more than 99.998% of the time.
This milestone, described in MIT News, is an important step toward making quantum computers more reliable and powerful, thanks to improvements in error correction and the potential for fault-tolerant machines.
