Is it a stretch to argue the USSR was a pagan utopia? The first thing they did was executed the clergy, destroyed nearly every single church, and enacted what they termed "scientific atheism" - which was modelled on both Spinozan and Darwinian thought. Neo-pagans began seeing a revolution in their favor as the bolsheviks started sponsoring the restoration of their rituals in the latter 1950s. Not to mention the broader implications of these policies that sparked a worldwide revival in pagan ideas.
