ببینید، من قبل از این هم تا حدی اعتمادبه‌نفس کافی برای اجرای سبکی شبیه به آهنگ "Palaces" رو داشتم؛ در واقع توی آلبوم قبلی هم کمی به اون فضا اشاره کرده بودم. قلب من بیشتر با اون سبک گره خورده، به‌عنوان یک طرفدار موسیقی، اون نوع انرژی همون چیزی که دوست دارم بشنوم. اما در مورد آهنگ "Sunflowers"، دلیل هیجان‌انگیز بودن اون برای من این بود که روشی برای اجرای پاپ پیدا کردم که واقعاً با اون احساس راحتی می‌کنم. این آهنگ همچنان حال‌وهوای موسیقی آلترناتیو رو داره اما در عین حال ملودی‌ای داره که گوش شنونده رو دوباره به سمت خودش می‌کشونه. فکر می‌کنم توی آلبوم‌های قبلی برای پیدا کردن این تعادل مشکل داشتم؛ ماجرا این بود که خیلی اصرار داشتم خودم رو از نظر موسیقایی ثابت کنم و در این مسیر کمی از اهمیت ملودی غافل شده بودم. بنابراین، هدف اصلی این آلبوم تمرکز بیشتر بر ملودی و در عین حال پرداختن به چیزهایی بود که واقعاً به من حس خوبی میدن.

Yeah, I think so. And and look, I I was already I was already slightly more confident of pulling off something like a Palaces there. I kind of alluded to it a little bit on the record before. That's where my heart lives a lot of the time is that, you know, as a music fan, that's the kind of energy that I want to be listening to.
Um, but Sunflowers, it the reason I found it really exciting is that was like my way of doing pop and the way that's going to make me feel really comfortable about it. And it still feels like in quite an alternative way, but it's still got that melody that your ear is going to come back to. And I think previously on previous records, I've struggled to find that, I struggled with the ratio. I think it was, you know, I was, I had such a keen point to prove about who I was musically. Disregarded melody a little bit along the way. So this record as a whole really was about trying to be more melodic but also you know kind of playing into what's going to make me feel really good as well.
