Trenton Johnston, now 20, pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Miami federal court to conspiracy to commit money laundering. For months he posed as a Google employee and crypto security rep to take over victims' accounts and drain their holdings, netting $13M in Bitcoin and other assets.
He got caught during a routine traffic stop in March: found in the back of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan with amphetamines, having overstayed his US visa. His spending trail included a Lamborghini Aventador, two BMWs, jewelry, private jets, and Miami nightlife. He faces deportation back to Canada at sentencing.
