Thanks to your valuable feedback and reports, we've managed to resolve several issues and steer our tool in the right direction. A couple of words about improvements:

🔴 Fixed an issue with incremental backups on remote storage.

🟡 Added support for SSL connection with MySQL.
We have added parameters for connecting to MySQL using client certificates.

nxs-backup v3.12.0 is out!

This update brings the following improvements:

🟢 Enhanced backup compatibility for MariaDB users;

To ensure safer and more reliable backups, we've switched to using Mariabackup instead of XtraBackup for databases running on MariaDB. This change reduces the risk of data corruption during restoration.

🟡 Corrected a bug with backup rotation.

We fixed an issue where nxs-backup did not correctly identify the list of files to delete in some time zones.

What are the key highlights of this update?

🟢 More options for a flexible URL formation for accessing S3 storage;

We worked through the configuration options for S3 storage. The lookup type is now determined by the endpoint format, with the bucket being a part of the endpoint.

🟢 Updated dependencies to an actual versions;

🟡 Added skipping of foreign directories when rotating backups. You will receive a warning if a foreign directory is detected during backup rotation.

🟡 Fixed delivery of backups to s3 storage.

nxs-backup 3.10.0 is out!

🟢 Option to display a list of created backups has been added!

Similar to the start command, nxs-backup ls backups will return a list of available backup files for all backup copies and sorts them as a tree. The command takes the name of a job or group of jobs as an argument.

🟢 A compression option for external scripts has been added to nxs-backup.

🟢 Limiting resource consumption for CPU has been added to nxs-backup!

🟢 rotateEnabled option has been added for backup rotation settings.

Now, there’s an ability to disable rotation, while sending backups works as usual.

🟡 Fixed an issue causing panic when using incorrectly configured/unavailable storages.
Problematic storages are no longer added to the list of storages used for backups.

🟡 Corrected a typo in the examples

nxs-backup v3.8.1 is out!

With the help of your issues and notices, we have been able to correct some problems and put our tool on the right track!

A couple of words about improvements:

🔴 Fixed a couple of bugs with incremental backups when working with SCP/SFTP servers;

🔴 Fixed the problem with metrics turning off;

🔴 Fixed hanging while generating configs.
Now, nxs-backup returns nil to the done channel at the end of the generate config function.

🟡 Added new metrics nxs_backup_creation_ts containing the Unix timestamp of the backup creation date;

🟡 Added option to specify database name when connecting for psql_basebackup, similar to psql;

🟢 Limiting resource consumption for local disk rate and remote storage is available now.
As we mentioned before, we wanted to limit resource consumption for nxs-backup. With this release, you’re able to do that for local disk rate and remote storages. A couple of things were added for this:

▪️ A new option limits to main and job configs files to set limits;
General level in the main config in nxs-backup.conf allows you to set limits for all backup jobs. Whereas the job level in its config allows you to set/override limits for this specific job.

▪️ limits.disk_rate option to set the write speed rate limit to a local disk;

▪️ limits.net_rate option to set the speed rate limit to a remote storage;

▪️ rate_limit option to set the speed rate limit to a specific remote storage in its config.

Previously it was only possible to send log events via hooks with configuring different levels and receiving information about errors or events of the required levels. The new version adds the following metrics:

▪️ Backup acquisition time;
▪️ Backup delivery correctness;
▪️ Backup delivery time;
▪️ Availability of a new version.
