lake mungo (2008) dir. joel anderson.

i #cheated for this one tbh... it's from my watchlist and i haven't seen it. 😭 but it's pretty famous for the psychological and mystery aspects! some people said it's pretty sentimental in a way, some even said it has the lynch's twin peaks vibes. i think it's a must watch if you haven't seen it and love found footage films.

the rocking horsemen (1992) dir. nobuhiko obayashi.

gotta give it to these guys who love their band so dearly! group of highschoolers in the 60s fell in love with the ventures and formed a rock band. it's a peak fun and energizing coming of age film. nothing much happened but them and their rocking memories, made me feel nostalgic over things that i didn't get to experience.

the yearning in this film makes it carries its own charisma #methinks. for logical mmm... i guess? like, it's pretty logical to me how they're kinda scared of their own feelings in that rural area. but despite all of that, they both are still caring in their own ways.

@godyeem + dystopian, fantasy, adventure

akira (1988) dir. katsuhiro otomo.

maybe i can say this is one of the pioneer or the most important cinema in the cyberpunk dystopian genre. and for an animation from the 80s??? they went so fucking hard with it. akira is also heavy with political theme but somehow it's my comfort film when it comes to rebellious adventure fantasy theme. ahead of its time, really.

hi... let me cheat for this time because i haven't watched it. so this is from my watchlist instead of already watched list LOL. this is actually a thriller too, based on what people say it's a seductive erotic thriller situation but still with romance as the key point. definitely looks hot from the summer and the premise.

had to skip the slowburn i'm sorry because slowburn action romance is pretty hard for me, i don't think i've watched nor found it. </3 but this one has enough problems too and a good watch for romance action. adapted from a book with the same title by eka kurniawan. one of must watch indonesian cinema! the film won locarno film festival's grand prize too back in 2021.
