The British Royal Navy has temporarily been left without its only icebreaking patrol ship, HMS Protector, after two of its engines broke down, The Telegraph reports.
According to the newspaper, the malfunction occurred on the morning of October 13, when HMS Protector was putting out to sea. After the engines failed, the ship was towed to the Devonport naval base in Plymouth.
The British Royal Navy will now have to assess whether the vessel can be repaired. If it cannot be restored, a replacement may not be available until the 2030s, the publication writes.
