Hackers stole the data of more than 3 million Pentagon employees and military personnel, ABC reports, citing a representative of the U.S. Department of Defense.

The breach affected 2.76 million living people and another 294,000 deceased individuals. They included military personnel, civilian employees, contractors, retirees, veterans, and family members of military personnel.

The files contained detailed information about the work performed by military and civilian personnel—a fact that could raise national security concerns.

According to the channel’s sources, the perpetrators are threatening to publish all the personal information of FBI employees. The agency found that the official portal where job vacancies were posted had not been properly secured.

The Pentagon currently stores more than 60 million personal files of current and former employees.
