🇵🇸 The United States is once again trying to set a postwar order for Gaza in motion

Here is an important correction: No new American plan was published last night. The basis remains Trump’s 20-point plan and the Board of Peace’s roadmap from July. These provide for the disarmament of the armed groups, the transfer of civilian administration to a Palestinian technocratic committee, the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the transfer of security matters to international forces and the Palestinian police.

The new development is connected with the UN General Assembly. In New York, the Board of Peace is planning a separate briefing for representatives of dozens of countries to inform them about the status of the plan’s implementation and the reconstruction of the territory. Representatives of the EU and UN bodies have also been invited. This means that Washington is trying to use the week of the General Assembly to expand international support for the concept that already exists. No further new version for Gaza’s future will be presented.

The problem with the American plan is no longer the lack of documents—there are enough of those. The central question is much more practical: Who will disarm the armed groups? And who will ultimately finance the reconstruction of Gaza?
