In Week 34 of 2026, Nigeria recorded further increase in Lassa fever activity.

A total of 146 new suspected cases were reported, alongside 21 confirmed cases and 1 confirmed death.

The continued occurrence of Lassa fever cases and deaths reinforces the importance of constant vigilance, early detection and prompt response.

Everyone has a role to play in preventing Lassa fever.

Protect yourself and prevent Lassa fever by:
✅ Keeping your environment clean and free of rodents
✅ Storing food in tightly covered containers
✅ Disposing of waste properly and keeping homes clutter-free
✅ Seeking medical care early when you notice symptoms such as fever, weakness, headache, or bleeding.
