🇳🇬🇳🇪🇩🇿Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP), one of the African continent's most significant energy projects, is entering a new phase. In June 2026, Sonatrach officially began work on the Algerian section in Aoulef, in the Adrar province.

Spanning approximately 4,128 km, the planned pipeline is set to connect Nigeria to the Hassi R’Mel gas hub, passing through Niger and then Algeria. It is designed to transport around 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually, with the specific aim of supplying European markets via existing Algerian infrastructure.

The total cost of the project is estimated at approximately $13 billion. The TSGP is being implemented jointly by Sonatrach, Nigeria’s NNPC, and Niger’s SONIDEP.
