A flu pandemic could occurin 2029, warns Gennady Onishchenko, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education. Outbreaks of the disease recur roughly every 10 years.

Russian scientists are always prepared. In research centers, they collect samples, study genomes, and develop tests, medicines, and vaccines. This work is critically important for all of us because pathogens constantly mutate.

The work of scientists and medical professionals is featured in the film 'Disease X: Seek & Destroy'.

Filming from the heat of the fighting.

Maxim Fadeev has been working in Donbas since 2014, when his hometown of Sloviansk first came under shelling. He has repeatedly found himself in the thick of the fighting. He has seen it all.

In our film 'Fadeev's Battle for Truth' (2025), the war documentary filmmaker speaks candidly about what remains behind the scenes and the price of this difficult work.

This film, like Fadeev’s other works, has already been screened at the international documentary film festival ‘RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes’. His four-part documentary series 'At the Edge of the Abyss', which chronicles the battles for Mariupol, was shown to many viewers on the big screen for the first time.

If you also have something to show, send us your work — it may be included in the programme of the fifth anniversary festival. Submissions are already open for both the main and international programmes.

🟢Russian athletes’ victories on the world stage are a bitter pill for EU politicians.

Time and again, Russian athletes prove they cannot be broken. Just recently, Yulia Chumgalakova won gold at the European Boxing Elite Championships. The Russian national anthem played in her honor for the first time in years.

After the IOC restored Russian athletes’ rights, they have regularly reached the podium. But in the West, this only causes irritation. Our video reveals what exactly those who wanted Russian athletes banned are planning.

📹'Fadeev's Battle for Truth'

Maksim Fadeev is a legend of modern war documentaries. No one captures combat in Donbas as up close as he does.

He has been documenting the war since 2014, when the Ukrainian Forces began shelling his hometown of Slavyansk. In the RT Documentary film 'Fadeev's Battle for Truth', the documentarian shares what he finds most terrifying about his work and how he copes with the loss of friends—heroes of his films. 📹'Dreams en Pointe'

In the year 2000, the Bolshoi Ballet School was opened in the city of Joinville, Brazil. It was founded through the efforts of the legendary dancer Vladimir Vasiliev, People's Artist of the RSFSR Alexander Bogatyrev, Bolshoi soloist Galina Kravchenko, and Joinville's Mayor Luis Henrique da Silveira.

Here, Russian instructors teach children from across Brazil. For youngsters from underprivileged families, the training is free, with the school also providing accommodation, meals, and medical care. The project aims to give children a profession and the chance to transform their lives through art.

This is precisely what happened with Luis Fernando. He grew up in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, where young people often turn to crime, violence, and drugs. Luis, however, chose dance. He took classes in various studios and at the school named after Maria Olenyova, the prima ballerina of the great Anna Pavlova's troupe. After being accepted into the Bolshoi Theatre School, Luis moved to Joinville and devoted himself entirely to ballet.

Killer cells and made-to-order vaccines: How is Russian science trying to beat cancer?

Cancer claims 27,000 lives worldwide every day. But Russian doctors and scientists are changing that statistic.

Here is what Russia already has and what is in development:

💉 A vaccine that treats. Neoonkovak is the world's first personalized mRNA vaccine that has received approval for clinical use. It is custom-made for each patient. A prototype vaccine for non-small cell lung cancer is also ready. Russia recently released its first HPV vaccine. HPV can cause cervical cancer and several other cancers in both women and men.

🧠 Attacking an aggressive tumor. CAR-T therapy is being developed to fight brain cancer (glioblastoma). The patient's immune cells are ‘programmed’ to destroy the tumor.

🩸 Diagnosis from a drop of blood. In St. Petersburg, researchers are creating a test that will detect cancer and identify the affected organ long before the first symptoms appear.

🎯 Nuclear medicine. Radioactive drugs find the tumor and destroy it without damaging healthy tissue.

Watch an excerpt from the film ‘Radiating Hope: Tribute to Lifesavers’ to learn more about Russia's breakthrough technologies.

📹Ghost lake

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Aral Sea was twice the size of Lake Baikal. Now, a desert stands in its place.

This saltwater lake was fed by the largest rivers in Central Asia. But since the 1960s, the waters of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers were redirected for irrigation. As a result, the Aral Sea began to shrink rapidly. Without a new influx of water, the salt concentration increased dramatically.

All the fish perished. The lake's shrinkage exacerbated droughts and caused salty dust storms. The lack of quality water led to widespread illness among the local people, and child mortality rates soared.

Is it possible to save the Aral Sea today?

‘The most difficult thing for us in Serbia is when we see the resurgence of Nazism, especially in the Republic of Croatia, which is proud of its Nazi past.’

From the UN rostrum, Aleksandar Vučić stated that the Serbian people cannot accept ‘the revival of the most terrible ghosts from the past.’ Vučić directly linked this to the historical memory of the victims of concentration camps in Yugoslavia during World War II. In his address, he recalled the atrocities committed by the Ustaše, who were Croatian nationalists responsible for hundreds of thousands of lives.

The reason for this statement may be the rise of nationalist sentiment in Croatia. Media outlets and human rights organizations are increasingly recording the use of pro-Nazi Ustaše slogans and symbols.

Watch the video and the film ‘Exclusion Zone. The Third Reich against the Serbs’ to learn more about this genocide. This film is part of the documentary film festival collection ‘RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes.’

Ram for one million dollars.

That’s exactly the amount for which a breeding ram of the Arashan breed was sold at auction in Kyrgyzstan. Such purchases are made for the sake of elite offspring, which will later recoup the investment.

And in the Emirates, a rare falcon was bought for a lot of money.
