For Military Medic Day, we present films about doctors, nurses and instructors who save soldiers’ lives on the front line and teach others to do the same.

Dr Donbass: Behind the Frontline

This is the story of true heroes — doctors who fought death in Mariupol. Russian medics performed dozens of operations every day under shelling, saving civilians and wounded soldiers.

Sisters of Mercy

A film about the heroic work of Sisters of Mercy, who came to the aid of the Russian army during both the First and Second World Wars. Today, during the special military operation, they help Russian servicemen in Donbas and Kursk Region.

Here and Now. Zero

Zero is a neurosurgeon who wanted to become a medic from childhood, inspired by his grandmother’s stories about Pirogov. He evacuates soldiers so that they can undergo surgery in the rear, as carrying out neurological diagnostics on the front line is extremely difficult.

Combat Medics: Battle For Life

Severely wounded soldiers are brought to a military field hospital. Some still have unexploded shells inside their bodies — surgeons literally “demine” living people, risking their own lives with every mistake.

Dr Donbass: Living on the Edge

A hospital in Volnovakha operated just ten minutes from the line of contact. Medics fought every day, sparing no effort, to save the life of every soldier — evacuating the wounded under fire and operating under shelling.
