Sui processes first quantum-safe transaction on Devnet

Sui's Devnet has executed its first native quantum-safe transaction using ML-DSA-65 post-quantum signatures, according to Mysten Labs co-founder Kostas Chalkias. The milestone marks the first on-chain verification of post-quantum cryptography on the network.

ML-DSA-65 support is now live in Devnet v1.82.0 with full API integration through ExecuteTransaction and VerifySignature endpoints. The signatures work in multisig transactions and are integrated into GraphQL and the Rust SDK.

Sui targets Mainnet deployment of native ML-DSA-65 accounts in Q1 2027, pending security audits. The move prepares the blockchain for quantum computing threats to current elliptic curve cryptography standards.

Coinbase charts Bitcoin's post-quantum security roadmap

Coinbase, custodian of ~5% of all existing BTC, released technical guidance for Bitcoin's migration to post-quantum cryptography. The exchange flagged that the transition could span years and requires immediate planning.

The firm recommends exploring flexible output designs including BIP-360 (P2MR) and P2TRv2. A phased approach supporting both classical and post-quantum signature mechanisms forms the core strategy. Coinbase also raised unresolved questions: handling dormant funds, lost private keys, and wallets that never migrate to new standards.

Early preparation now reduces friction during the eventual shift.

Interactive Brokers opens ETH staking to eligible clients via zerohash

Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) launched cryptocurrency staking infrastructure, starting with Ethereum. Eligible clients access the Staking Dashboard within IBKR's Client Portal to submit staking and unstaking requests, monitor pending activity, and track earned rewards.

zerohash provides the underlying digital asset infrastructure. Staking rewards compound automatically as additional staked cryptocurrency while positions remain locked. The rollout marks a major traditional brokerage move into on-chain yield generation.

Ripple and Privy enable programmatic wallet creation on XRP Ledger

Developers can now build XRPL wallets programmatically through the Ripple-Privy partnership. The integration supports XRP, RLUSD, and other digital assets on the network.

The move aligns with XRPL's original architecture: deep liquidity pools accessible to any participant, with payments as the foundation for broader financial infrastructure. Ripple's CTO Emeritus Joel Katz previously outlined this vision, noting that wallets should excel at payments first, then enable financial services around that core function.

Programmatic wallet creation removes friction for developers building payment applications on XRPL.

Starknet enables anonymous DeFi trades via Shadow Accounts

Starknet launches Shadow Accounts on Oct. 15, allowing users to participate in public DeFi markets while maintaining wallet privacy. Shadow Accounts link confidentially to main wallets, masking transaction history and holdings from on-chain observers.

The feature addresses front-running and privacy concerns in decentralized finance. First integration goes live tomorrow. Users can conduct trades without revealing positions or wallet balances to the network.

Marvell, Microsoft, Oracle join forces on data center security hardware

Three major tech firms have established a working group under the Open Compute Project to standardize integrated hardware security modules across data center infrastructure.

The collaboration brings together processor maker Marvell Technology, cloud operator Microsoft, and enterprise software giant Oracle. Their goal: create consistent standards for how security hardware embeds into server designs.

Hardware security modules protect cryptographic keys and sensitive operations at the chip level. Standardization could reduce fragmentation across data center deployments and lower integration costs for cloud providers building custom infrastructure.
