"Israel Hayom" Hebrew newspaper – Yoav Limor: In an attempt to demonstrate the seriousness of the threat posed by loitering drones, the Shin Bet (General Security Service) conducted an exercise attended by the political and security leadership. A loitering drone was directed toward an extremely important target that had been considered protected. All relevant systems were activated to intercept it, but the drone successfully reached its destination.

The message was fully understood, but, as is the case with government systems, it took some time before it became a tangible reality on the ground.

This, incidentally, is also why Shin Bet chief David Zini met with Gadi Eisenkot and Naftali Bennett about two months ago: he wanted to demonstrate the threat and its immediate implications to them and seek their support for the decisions that would be required in the near future, whether they were members of the coalition or the opposition.
