Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, on the second annual anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah:
– Two years have passed since the martyrdom of a mujahid whose name became intertwined with the contemporary history of Lebanon and the West Asian region, and with decades of struggle to end the occupation and defend the sovereignty, dignity, and honor of the peoples of the region: Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the martyred Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, who was martyred after years of distinguished presence and a prominent role in the region’s political developments, in an attack carried out by the criminal Zionist regime.
– He belonged to a generation and lineage of men who learned politics amid occupation, wars, and successive crises in the region, and who believed that no people could be deprived forever, through force, threats, and intimidation, of their right to sovereignty, dignity, and self-determination. Hence, his name, transcending the framework of any party or political current, became firmly rooted in the contemporary memory of the region, associated with concepts such as honor, steadfastness, and resistance in confronting occupation and the crimes of the Zionist regime.
– His martyrdom, although it was a tremendous loss for Hezbollah, the Lebanese people, and all free people around the world, once again proved a historical truth: eliminating individuals never means eliminating the ideas and objectives deeply rooted in the historical experience of peoples. The history of Lebanon, Palestine, and the region has shown that deeply rooted political and historical causes cannot be eradicated through assassination, intimidation, and elimination; no people can be diverted from demanding their rights and dignity by eliminating their heroes and leaders.
– Amid the difficult circumstances following the loss of the Master of the Resistance, Sheikh Naim Qassem’s assumption of the heavy responsibility of leading Hezbollah, at a stage filled with difficulties and rapidly unfolding developments, demonstrated the continuation of the path of demanding rights and resistance in the face of mounting pressures. Sheikh Naim Qassem’s period of leadership once again demonstrated that steadfast belief in a goal, even under the most difficult and complex circumstances, can be a source of steadfastness, resilience, and continuation of the path.
– Now, on the second annual anniversary of the martyrdom of Martyr Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, I salute the memory of his name and the memory of all the martyrs of the resistance, and on this occasion I extend my condolences and congratulations to the families of the honorable martyrs, the honorable Lebanese people, and all those who stood in defense of the freedom, independence, and dignity of their land.
