The magical realism of Ronald Companoca (Peru)

The artist’s work is rooted in the classical chiaroscuro technique: dramatic light draws figures out of the darkness, creating the feel of a theatrical stage. His style weaves together the traditions of Bosch and Bruegel with Kafkaesque absurdity. Clocks, cages, and birds recur as symbols of time slipping away.
