Rosenthal “Golden Fish” porcelain figurine, 1940.

A rare collector’s version of this celebrated late Art Deco design, crafted from fine German porcelain. Its flowing tail, rich cobalt blue underglaze and delicate gilding create a striking, almost mystical effect.

What if the fish could grant wishes? A fisherman once caught a golden fish, which offered him any wish. He eagerly asked for everything: a beautiful wife, car, house, country home, important job, wealth, youth and happiness.

“Done,” said the fish. “You’ve already had it all.” With a flick of its cobalt tail, it vanished.

The moral: catching luck by the tail isn’t enough—you must know how to word your wishes.
