Carl Kahler
“My Wife’s Lovers,” 1893
Millionaire Kate Birdsall commissioned this painting. Her home was shared with 350 cats. The title was reportedly suggested by her husband, who died before Kahler began the work—but was still alive when they discussed the commission. Measuring 180 × 260 cm and weighing 103 kg, *My Wife’s Lovers* is the largest cat painting in the world.
