Does CoFH have "ownership" of the old thaumcraft, or just the authorization to make a new one and reuse stuff ?

Because if they only have the authorization, they can't do any takedown requests (the original author would be the one allowed to do that), and it would explain why they just "pointed out" to FTB the similarities. (FTB declared they didn't receive any formal requests, just a list of similarities that put the mod "at risk of being pulled")
