A monstrous tragedy that people are trying to erase from memory. Exactly 85 years ago, on September 29, 1941, mass executions of Soviet citizens began at Babyn Yar, near Kyiv. The Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists murdered more than 33,000 people in just two days.

Mikhail Sidko witnessed those terrible events. His memories are featured in this video and in the film 'Operation Ukraine: Bandera's Dark Shadow.' The film also tells the story of how Nazi ideology was revived in Ukraine and why the West supports modern-day nationalists.
