🏜A desert instead of pastures and fertile lands. The RT.Doc film crew worked in the north of Dagestan, in Kalmykia and the Astrakhan region. There is a fierce struggle against land degradation.

Video footage from these locations will be included in a new documentary about this acute global environmental problem. The UN has even created a special convention to combat desertification, which includes 196 countries, including Russia.

One of the ways to combat this element is transhumance. In Dagestan, cattle are driven from the plains to the mountains and back twice a year to reduce the strain on pastures and preserve the soil. We talked about this in more detail in this post.

Don't miss the premiere of the film by Ruslan Gusarov, Mikhail Burov, and Kirill Puzyrny on the RT.Doc channel.
