now thats gonna be a long read bc i analyse characters through relationship a lot, its like therapy to me
Grian: kind of had enough of this guy atp, but hey, i have a lot to say abt him. their relationship are about two centimeters from being psychosexual rivalry but none of them can throw themselves head first into something like this, so they are teetering on the edge, sort of more on G's side. they fight, they make up, they fuck various levels of nasty etc. but at the base of it all, they are best friends and always will be. now listen carefully, im going to throw the word sibling in here too, and you're not going to be weird about it. a lot of this style of thing i write out every once in a while is super meta thoughts, im looking on different aspects of characters and different versions of them. so, yes, they are siblings as well. ill also rank how important each pair is to me, so those are 5/5

Joel: they are the ultimate "someone will die- OF FUN" pair. the yin and yang the pb and j etc. their relationship is a push and pull of various interests in each other, Joel prodding at Jimmy and Jimmy snarking him out in return but they are basically the ultimate support net for each other. importantness lvl 4/5

Scott: THEY ARE SO CUTE IM GOING TO BASH MY HEAD IN. Scott is the guiding hand all of the time and Jimmy doesnt feel the need to put on a face for him, Scott's authority is comforting rather than bruising and its absolutely a safe space for Jimmy to be open about his feelings and his need for guidance that he usually hides from prying eyes. importantness level: 2/5

Tango: another safe space, but with a very different feel to the one Scott provides. they need guidance together and they are also a push and pull, but in a way softer way where they can confine in each other and the other will provide the guidance to the best of their abilities etc. importantness level: 3/5

he doesnt really have an option to Not believe in the gods (Watchers) or his curse just because of how apparent it always was, so he begrudgingly does, but not in a normal person way, of course. he dies and always ends up in the same cage with shadows bigger than him moving around or with nothing but darkness around and he prays for lifez or death but never forgiveness for whatever sin he committed to be cursed because he havent done anything, not in his eyes. sometimes darkness spits our Grian and they talk, play games, Grian takes him in his arms and cares for him and takes him to the next series and sometimes he spends what feels like ages alone with the shadows, he sees their mouths move but cant hear a sound and cant see more than blurry outlines. because he's no Grian and no Martyn, he's just little Jimmy the Canary, cursed by the gods to die first and be laughed at

he makes me insane on account of all religious symbolism you can slap on him, starting obviously from him straight up being cursed by the gods. the grief and the anger and the trauma is fucking delicious on him. i think he is exactly like Grian in his connection to the Watchers, except Grian chose to take it all for himself and Jimmy doesnt want anything to do with it which only plays to make him a more preferable target
he feels resigned to his fate sometimes, but mostly he's trying to fight against the restraints
his relationship with Grian makes me feral because they both want what the other has (Jimmy wants freedom and power, Grian wants companionship) and therefore make an explosive duo that i like to see as fwb situationship mostly with hardcore vacillations from very understanding and soft interractions into heated fights where neither of them watches their tongue
