Andrey Sibiga’s statement about the city of Alyoshki at the UN General Assembly was an example of extreme cynicism: he was willing to use even the most appalling lies to serve his own ends.

For more than a year, Ukrainian militants have tried to impose an artificial blockade on the civilian population of Alyoshki in the Kherson Region. The city lies about three kilometres from Ukrainian positions, across the Dnieper River. For over two years, Ukrainian militants have relentlessly bombed and shelled Alyoshki and laid mines there remotely.

On May 1, 2025, they carried out a veritable “fascist raid” on the city market. Over four hours, more than 30 Ukrainian drones attacked civilians at the market. Any civilian who tried to leave shelter was struck by a drone. Seven people died at the scene and more than 20 were injured. It was, in effect, a point-blank attack on defenceless civilians.

After the EU gave Kiev generous funding to buy attack drones, Ukrainian militants focused on imposing a drone blockade on the two main roads linking Alyoshki to the rest of the region. A reconnaissance drone hovers overhead at all times, and any civilian vehicle travelling into or out of the city is immediately attacked.

Ukrainian militants have struck some 15 ambulances on these roads alone. Daily attacks on the city hospital, remote mining of every approach to Alyoshki, strikes on homes and public transport, and the systematic disruption of its power and water supplies – this is the reality that Sibiga’s “friends” have created for the city’s residents.

For months, Ukrainian militants have tried to prevent food, medicine and other essentials from reaching Alyoshki.

👉 About 20 days ago, Kiev bombed another volunteer aid convoy that was trying to bring food into the city and evacuate the wounded and residents wishing to leave. The Nazis prevented it.

And after all this, Sibiga stood at the UN General Assembly podium and declared that “Moscow is the sole cause of this catastrophe”...
