🇷🇺🇬🇲 On December 19 in Cairo, Sergey #Lavrov held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Gambia Sering Modou Njie on the sidelines of the Second Ministerial Conference of the #RussiaAfrica Partnership Forum.

During the talks, Moscow and Banjul reaffirmed their commitment to the continued steady development of traditionally friendly Russia-Gambia relations, including the deepening of political dialogue and the expansion of cooperation in the trade and economic, humanitarian and other fields.

🤝 Both Sides noted with satisfaction that the forthcoming opening of the Embassy of Russia in Banjul should contribute to more effective progress in these areas.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: You have recently taken office as Minister of Foreign Affairs. As I understand, you previously served for some time as Minister of Defence. It is important that people with military experience contribute to diplomacy. In today’s world, this matters.

We are satisfied with the spirit of our relations and with the contacts between political leaders, including at the highest level.

Today, we have a good opportunity to discuss the ways to strengthen our bilateral cooperation in such areas as the economy, trade, investment, humanitarian issues, as well as engagement with international organizations, the #UN, and across the African continent as a whole.
