🇷🇺🇹🇿 On December 19 in Cairo, Sergey #Lavrov held a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of Tanzania Mahmoud Thabit Kombo on the sidelines of the Second Ministerial Conference of the #RussiaAfrica Partnership Forum.

During the talks, the Sides exchanged views on a number of key issues on the bilateral agenda and underscored the importance of stepping up efforts in the trade and economic sphere, building on the decisions and understandings reached at the second meeting of the Russia-Tanzania Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, held in St Petersburg on May 12-13, 2025.

Readiness was reaffirmed to further deepen constructive engagement and enhance coordination between the two countries at the UN and other international fora.

💬 Sergey Lavrov: This is a good opportunity once again to congratulate you on your appointment as Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. Your extensive experience in government will be an asset in advancing our bilateral relations.

We welcome the results of the general elections held in Tanzania at the end of October. We hope to see continuity in our bilateral relations, building on the solid foundation laid over recent decades.

I hope that today we will be able to discuss those areas of our bilateral relations where progress can be achieved.
