🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s opening remarks during talks with Jean-Claude Gakosso

💬 Sergey Lavrov: Mr Gakosso,

It is a pleasure to see you. Allow me to offer my congratulations on the recent conferral of the honorary title of Ambassador of Russian Education and Science, which was bestowed in October this year. This follows your earlier award with the Alexander Pushkin Medal.

We highly value your personal contribution to the advancement of our relations, extending beyond education and science to include the coordination in foreign policy. This coordination has been firmly established between our nations, a result of the regular dialogue between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou-Nguesso. We particularly appreciate President Sassou-Nguesso's participation in the events marking the 80th Anniversary of Victory in May this year. Their discussion was highly productive.

More recently, on September 3, in Beijing, during the celebrations commemorating the Victory over Japan, President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of the Congo Denis Sassou-Nguesso again held a productive meeting.

We have a number of tasks, as agreed by our leaders. Today presents a welcome opportunity to explore what additional steps we might take to further strengthen our friendly relations and partnership.
