🎙️Statement by Permanent Delegate of Russia to UNESCO R.Alyautdinov, at session of Intergovernmental Council of International Programme for the Development of Communication:

📍Russia expressed its categorical refusal to accept draft DG report on Safety of Journalists which completely ignores official data on killed Russian journalists in 2022-2023.

📍We also disagree with ‘methodology’ of condemnation journalists' killing, used by Secretariat and not approved by Member States.

 📍In this regard, Russia together with the delegations of China, Venezuela, DPRK, Syria and Belarus requested UNESCO Secretariat to publish officially submitted by Member States statistical data on killed journalists and to provide explanations on the ‘methodology’ used.

💬 The fact that these documents were not provided demonstrates that the leadership of the Secretariat has become completely unaccountable to Member States, fulfills political orders from the ‘collective West’ to the detriment of UNESCO's mandate and credibility.
