🗓 On November 9, Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, at the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum in Sochi met with:

🇷🇺🇲🇷 Minister of Foreign Affairs of #Mauritania, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug.

The discussion focused on a range of current issues concerning the further strengthening of the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Mauritania.

The Parties reaffirmed Moscow’s and Nouakchott’s commitment to enhanced coordination in foreign policy, particularly in light of Mauritania’s current chairmanship of the African Union.

They highlighted the importance of resolving existing conflicts on the continent, particularly in the Sahara-Sahel region, through political and diplomatic means, grounded in the universally recognised principles of international law. Special emphasis was placed on the goal of achieving a just resolution to the Palestinian issue.

The Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Arts, Communications, and Parliamentary Relations of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

🇷🇺🇨🇩 Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Francophonie of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Therese Kayikwamba Wagner.

The Ministers discussed major directions of further development of a multifaceted cooperation between Russia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a focus on expanding mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment partnership, and development of joint projects in power engineering, mineral resources production, science, education, medicine, and digital technologies.

Both Moscow and Kinshasa confirmed their readiness to enhance constructive cooperation and coordinate steps in the UN.

The Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

🇷🇺🇱🇾 Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity of #Libya Taher al-Baour.

The Ministers held a detailed discussion on the developments in and around Libya. The Russian side reaffirmed its principled position in favour of a comprehensive settlement to the Libyan crisis based on the principles of ensuring the unity, territorial integrity, and state sovereignty of Libya, with which Moscow has always maintained traditionally friendly ties.

🇷🇺🇧🇯 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of #Benin Olushegun Adjadi Bakari.

The Ministers discussed ways to further strengthen Russia-Benin cooperation in politics, trade, the economy, culture, and other areas, and to improve the legal and contractual framework of bilateral relations.

They held a frank exchange of opinions on the international and African agenda of mutual interest, including in the context of efforts to coordinate positions at the UN.

🇷🇺🇧🇫 Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad of #BurkinaFaso Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré.

During their conversation, an extensive scope of issues related to the further promotion of traditionally friendly bilateral relations was discussed, including considering the resumption of the activities of the Embassy of Russia in Ouagadougou in December 2023.

The two Ministers also reaffirmed their mutual intention to step up bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation and expand interaction in the trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.

When discussing international and regional problems, including the developments in the Sahara-Sahel zone, the Sides noted Moscow and Ouagadougou’s consolidated principled approaches based on the understanding of the necessity for establishing a more just, polycentric world order under the rule of international law and the UN Charter, and abandoning the practice of external dictate and neocolonialism.
