Because FY2026 replenishment is expected to yield fewer than 500 Patriots and no THAADs, replenishing Dec 2025 levels will take until 2030 despite the FY2027 request exceeding 800 THAADs. Notably, these shortfalls are concentrated in missile defense, whereas significant offensive stocks of JDAMs and SDBs remain intact.

Rebuilding will take time, as new contracts require 4.5 years to fulfill for THAAD and 3.5 years for Patriots; therefore, while Lockheed Martin plans to raise annual THAAD output from 96 to 400, CSIS warns these munitions will be heavily strained in a potential China conflict.
