⚡️🇾🇪🇨🇳 Yemen's Houthis are attempting to produce advanced medium-range ballistic missiles using parts from China, according to Conflict Armament Research cited by the Wall Street Journal.
They are developing a version of Iran's Kheibar Shekan missile with a 1,900 km range, putting Saudi Arabia and Israel within striking distance. This follows the 2025 interdiction of two shipments containing missile equipment. Imports include custom metal parts, control fins, solid-propellant motor components, testing gear, and ablative materials. Conflict Armament Research analyst Fabian Hinz noted production status is unclear due to camouflaged facilities.
China claims adherence to the UN arms embargo, but former UN sanctions expert Henry Thompson states evidence shows Houthi imports of solid-fuel missile components from China for at least two years, enabling larger warheads for deep strikes into Saudi territory.
