⚡️🇮🇷 — Strait of Hormuz vessel traffic fell to its lowest level in more than two months after tanker attacks reached their highest weekly level since the start of the US-Israeli war with Iran, according to shipping data and maritime-security sources tracking incidents, as Gulf producers increased exports. Kpler recorded 7 commodity vessels transiting on Tuesday (lowest since July 23), rising to 10 on Wednesday but remaining well below the 20+ daily crossings recorded Sunday and Monday; more vessels entered than exited over the past two days. — Arab News
Kpler analysts wrote in a note on October 6: “Crude crossing the strait fell 27% from a wartime high the week before, to at least 10.1 million barrels a day” — back to September’s average but 74% of its pre-war level; most of the decline was in ship-to-ship (STS) transfers in the Gulf of Oman.
➡️ Exports from the Gulf of Oman coast and the Red Sea rose to 6.7M bpd (more than twice pre-war levels), offsetting lost Hormuz supply and keeping overall Middle East crude exports at pre-war levels, Kpler said. Transit figures exclude vessels with AIS transponders switched off to avoid detection; separate LSEG data covering all vessels recorded 8 crossings on Tuesday (4 entries/4 exits), down from 14 the previous day.
