⚡️🇺🇸 — Texas Department of Public Safety said officers foiled a planned attack on the Texas State Capitol in Austin after receiving credible information that a person intended to carry out a violent attack on Thursday. DPS Criminal Investigations Division special agents and the FBI investigated the threat, and at about 3 a.m. Wednesday, DPS SWAT arrested 40-year-old Benny Caldera Jr. at his residence in Converse, about 15 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio. — NBC
➡️ According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, Caldera’s friend told officers he had made verbal threats to assault the Capitol and quoted him as saying, «I am going to the Capitol and I am going to shoot it up.» The affidavit also states that Caldera said he was angry at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and that «these people have to be exterminated». Caldera was charged with felony terroristic threat against a public servant, transported to Bexar County Jail and later released on a $75,000 bond.
