➡️ Several US Marines will remain to protect diplomatic missions, while a Patriot air-defense battery deployed near Erbil is being withdrawn; remaining air-defense systems in Iraq will focus on protecting US diplomatic facilities.
Washington has also stressed to Baghdad the importance of preventing attacks by Iran-backed militias, according to US officials.
