We would like to inform you that on September 23 this year at 11:08, north of the town of Braniewo, there was a short-term violation of the airspace of the Republic of Poland by a Mi-8 helicopter of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The helicopter was operating from the Königsberg Oblast. It violated Polish airspace to a maximum depth of approximately 300 m and remained there for 42 seconds.
The aircraft's flight was monitored by Polish Armed Forces radar systems. Fighter aircraft were scrambled, and ground forces and resources remained on alert.
The nature of the incident indicates that Russia is once again testing the readiness of our air defenses.
The crews of the Polish air defense systems conduct 24-hour surveillance, remaining in constant readiness to ensure the security of Polish airspace.
