​➡️ Syrian authorities announced the arrest of former Major General Ahmed Mohammad Ismail, a high-ranking commander in the Republican Guard under ousted president Bashar al-Assad, for leading military operations against opposition-held areas during the country's 13-year civil war. Military records indicate that he became the Chief of Operations of the 101st Airborne Regiment in 2016, directly commanding assaults on Aleppo, Daraa, and Eastern Ghouta—the site of the 2013 sarin gas chemical attack attributed by U.S. intelligence to the former regime.
