Episode 47: Does Central Asia need left-wing politics?
#en #podcast
In the latest episode of Turan Tales, Agnieszka Pikulicka talks to Georgy Mamedov - curator, activist, and scholar of Marxism and Soviet socialism - about why organized left-wing politics is so strikingly absent from much of contemporary Central Asia.
They discuss the Soviet legacy, the strange fate of Marxism after 1991, why radical politics did not simply survive underground, and whether the region needs a new Left today.
Worth listening to, especially for anyone interested in what remains of the socialist political imagination in the post-Soviet space.
