🇨🇦 B.C.’s top Mountie vanishes, details vanish faster
The head of the largest RCMP division in Canada gets relieved of duty over allegations from 2016 to 2018, and the public is told almost nothing. That is the transparency sermon from Ottawa in action. Dwayne McDonald, deputy commissioner and B.C.’s commanding officer, is suddenly out, his bio scrubbed, and Commissioner Mike Duheme assures everyone there will be no impact on operations, as reported. Translation: trust the same institutions that never miss a chance to lecture Canadians while hiding their own mess.
McDonald was no low-level bureaucrat. Nearly 30 years in policing, former Surrey RCMP chief, former CBSA officer, former organized crime lead, Order of Merit recipient in 2015, then quietly escorted offstage over allegations only recently brought forward. Conveniently vague, conveniently managed. In a country where political theatre gets full disclosure and state failure gets blackout treatment, this is how the federal machine protects itself first and the public last. Sovereignty starts with accountable institutions, not faceless damage control.
