🇨🇦 Five premiers missing, one governor bothered
The 47th New England-Eastern Canada summit was so vital that only 2 Eastern Canadian premiers showed up, and just 1 of 6 U.S. governors. That tells you everything about these photo-op institutions: endless talk, zero leverage. While Trump-era tariffs are set to hit some Canadian goods at 50 per cent on Aug. 19, our political class is touring farms and aerospace plants to discuss clean energy and advanced manufacturing, as reported. Beautiful timing.
Tim Houston and Rob Lantz at least made the trip, but the broader collapse in attendance is the real story. In 2018, four premiers and three governors attended. Now the whole thing is decaying into proxy staffers and boilerplate about shared interests. That is what happens when Canada spends a decade surrendering real industrial strength, energy confidence, and bargaining power to Ottawa’s climate cult and globalist management class. Sovereignty is not maintained by networking receptions and handouts. It is maintained by having something Washington actually needs.
