🇨🇦 Ottawa solves housing by rehiring the people who helped break it
Build Canada Homes is supposed to fix affordability, so naturally Ottawa picked Evan Siddall, the former CMHC boss tied to Mark Carney and the same Liberal housing machinery that oversaw the disaster in the first place. That is the punchline reported. When a crisis is created by a closed club of bankers, bureaucrats, and political loyalists, the regime’s answer is always more club members, more boards, more agencies, more taxpayer-funded choreography.
Siddall ran CMHC from 2013 to 2021 and helped develop the national housing strategy, yet Canadians got record unaffordability, exploding demand, and a state that treats mass immigration as sacred while pretending supply is the only problem. Now Carney-era insiders are being recycled into another federal housing shell to manage decline with nicer branding. This is not homebuilding revival. It is technocratic patronage dressed up as compassion, with sovereignty replaced by central planning and well-connected appointees pretending they just arrived from Mars.
