🇨🇦 Hospital hacked, officials clap for themselves
Winnipeg’s largest hospital just got hit by ransomware hard enough to disrupt doors, ventilation and air conditioning, and the regime’s line is do not worry, nothing to see here. Right. If hackers can tamper with access control and building systems at Health Sciences Centre, patient care is obviously one step away from chaos, no matter what Shared Health reported. This is what institutional decay looks like in Canada now: basic infrastructure held together by press releases and crossed fingers.
The funniest part is that Manitoba’s auditor general warned Shared Health back in 2024 to improve cybersecurity, run annual tests, and train staff because response delays were coming. They ignored it, and now Health Minister Uzoma Asagwara is commending everyone for acting quickly after the predictable happened. Peak government. Endless money for consultants, DEI bureaucracy and photo ops, but not for securing a major hospital’s core systems. A sovereign country protects its critical infrastructure before lecturing citizens about resilience.
