🇨🇦 1,500 for a movie, because northern Canada is run like a colony
Yellowknife residents are flying 1,500 kilometres and burning $1,500 just to watch Spider-Man because the capital of the Northwest Territories no longer has a single cinema after nearly 80 years, as reported. That is the real Trudeau-era legacy in one snapshot: endless sermons about inclusion, connectivity and nation-building while basic civic life in the North collapses into fly-out consumer tourism.
The ruling class can find billions for migrants, consultants, DEI bureaucracy and every globalist vanity project under the sun, but a Canadian territorial capital can’t sustain one theatre. We’re told this is just market reality. Convenient. Strip the country of local infrastructure, centralize everything in southern hubs, then call the resulting isolation modern Canada. Yellowknife is not failing because movie fans are unreasonable. It’s failing because Ottawa treats the North like a resource warehouse and a photo-op backdrop, not a place where Canadians are supposed to live full lives.
